Rapiscan Joins Commerce Department Trade Mission to Middle East
Torrance, CA (PRWEB) March 10, 2014 -- Rapiscan Systems, Inc., a leading global supplier of security inspection systems, today announced they will accompany U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker on an infrastructure business development trade mission to the Middle East from March 8-14. The delegation will visit the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Qatar.
All three countries are currently undergoing substantial growth and planning major investments in infrastructure. The mission is focused on promoting export opportunities for U.S. businesses and encourages participating businesses to establish relationships and promote their technologies and services to the region.
"Security in the Middle East is not a localized issue, but critical to security around the globe. As the Middle East builds out their infrastructure, they are looking for high quality security equipment to ensure the safety of both their citizens and visitors," said Brad Buswell, president of aviation products for Rapiscan. "Rapiscan has previously had the opportunity to work with local organizations including Abu Dhabi Customs, Dubai Flower Centre, Saudi Prison Authority and Qatar Petroleum, and we look forward to building on these relationships and creating new opportunities."
“As the country’s Chief Commercial Advocate, a key part of my job is to promote trade and investment and connect U.S. businesses like Rapiscan Systems with potential customers across the globe. The fact is that 95 percent of customers worldwide live outside U.S. borders, and that is why promoting exports is essential to our economic growth and job creation,” said U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritkzer. “The three countries we are visiting on our trade mission to the Gulf Region are among the top 50 export markets for the United States. Since the launch of the National Export Initiative in 2010, exports have increased 111% to the United Arab Emirates, 65% to Saudi Arabia, and 57% to Qatar. Clearly, the Gulf region is a critical area of focus for our nation and its businesses.”
Brad Buswell, President, Aviation Products and Robert Goodhouse, Vice President, Middle East will represent Rapiscan at the upcoming trade delegation, which includes business leaders from 21 U.S. companies. Rapiscan has participated in numerous Department of Commerce business development trade missions in the past, including one to Latin America and another in India.
