Hearst, The Independent, London Evening Standard, offer publications by location
London, United Kingdom (PRWEB UK) 12 March 2014 -- The five star Royal Garden Hotel, in Kensington, London, will today be a part of publishing history. A partnership with digital publishing experts Exact Editions, and bespoke distributor Gold Key Media, means that the hotel will see a number of high profile titles, such as Esquire, The Spectator and Time Out, being freely digitally available to non subscribers, based on user location, for the first time.
A brand new Apple iOS app, will allow anyone within the premises of the Royal Garden Hotel, to have the luxury of full access to a wide range of magazines. A wide range of titles, from monthly glossies, such as Dazed and Confused, Harper’s Bazaar and Esquire, to daily newspapers London Evening Standard, and The Independent, will all be freely available, at the flick of a finger on any guests iPhone or iPad.
The new Gold Key Media/ Exact Editions app, downloadable in seconds from the Apple App Store, harnesses Exact Edition’s ByPlace technology, to provide unlimited access to a wide variety of publications to app users. Furthermore, once an issue has been synced the reader will be able to carry the issue around in their pocket wherever they may be.
Publishers have used locations, such as hotels and airport lounges, as prime locations for targeted placement to distribute their print magazines and newspapers. This new app demonstrates the potential of such distribution when it can be done digitally. Any reader of the titles will not only be able to access the issue and be tempted to subscribe, but will automatically walk away with it in their pocket, further increasing the contact time with the magazine issue.
The ability for publishers to target subscribers, by promoting and selling their digital editions at
various locations, has obvious potential benefits for those seeking to maximise the commercial
potential of digital magazine content. This unique showcasing of the service at the Royal Garden
Hotel in Kensington promises to set an example in helping publishers to further expand their
audience.
