The Hignell Companies Foundation Launches Major Initiative to Serve the Community
Chico, California (PRWEB) March 12, 2014 -- The Hignell Companies Foundation and Habitat for Humanity are putting their hands together to care for families in the community this year. The Community Impact Fund Committee of The Hignell Companies Foundation announced today they are partnering with Habitat for Humanity in a year-long Major Initiative that kicks off in April.
The first opportunity for employees to get engaged will be with Habitat’s A Brush With Kindness program. A Brush With Kindness helps low income homeowners by offering exterior home improvements that they either cannot afford or cannot physically manage themselves. A Brush With Kindness helps them to reclaim their homes with pride and dignity and is aimed at qualified families who are earning between 30 and 60% of the area median income.
In this initial project The Hignell Companies’ employees will be working to help a local family do some exterior renovations. Employees will provide the time, hands and food for this two day event April 26-27. A Brush With Kindness is the first opportunity of many that will come this year for the employees of The Hignell Companies to partner with Habitat and help move their mission forward.
This partnership with Habitat aligns well with the Foundation’s corporate mission: Creating Caring Communities that Transform Lives. The focus clearly states who The Hignell Companies are and their core beliefs. They start with their employees and seek to build opportunities within their managed communities and the community at large.
Speaking of the partnership, Phil Larios, President and CEO stated: “The core mission of Habitat is to eliminate homelessness and poor living conditions around the world. Working with them in our immediate community to improve homes for needy families, is exactly the kind of project we want to be involved with.”
Katharine Dietz, Director of Human Resources at The Hignell Companies serves on the Community Impact Fund Committee and noted: “We considered a number of opportunities in the local community, and are very excited to have selected Habitat for Humanity. Their impact in the lives of people makes them a great organization to partner with and we are looking forward to this initial project and the projects that will happen in the coming months.”
