TPC San Antonio to Host A Round to Remember Golf Event Benefiting the Alzheimers Association
San Antonio, Texas (PRWEB) March 13, 2014 -- The Tournament Players Club at San Antonio is hosting A Round To Remember golf outing benefiting the Alzheimer’s Association on Saturday, April 26th. This event is being held as part of the 2nd Annual Golftopia Charity Classic. A Round To Remember is a grass roots program that works to educate people about Alzheimer’s, raise awareness for those facing the disease and the impact it has on their families and caregivers through volunteer organized golf events. More than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer’s disease and over 15 million are acting as their caregivers. This year marks the first year TPC San Antonio has raised awareness for Alzheimer’s.
TPC San Antonio expects 48 participants for the A Round To Remember event and invites the public to take part. The tournament’s activities will include a two day, two person tournament with a variety of different formats. Daily and overall prizes will be awarded to the top teams and each participant will receive a goody bag with important information about Alzheimer’s as well as an embroidered golf shirt, golf balls and a free subscription to a select Condé Nast magazine such as Golf Digest, Condé Nast Traveler and Bon Appétit. The tournament will conclude on Sunday at the Quarry Golf Club in San Antonio.
“It is our pleasure and privilege to host A Round to Remember at TPC San Antonio, a PGA Tour facility. Each year, TPC San Antonio partners with worthwhile charities doing fantastic work in our communities. Hosting A Round to Remember continues in that tradition. We are so proud to be a part of this exciting event, and look forward to a great day of golf, fellowship and fun,” states Matt Flory, General Manager, TPC San Antonio.
The mission of A Round To Remember is to empower golfers to help change the course of Alzheimer’s by providing a platform for them to educate their family, friends and community about the disease and raise awareness for those facing Alzheimer’s through an activity they are passionate about.
”The success of A Round To Remember is attributed to volunteer champions like Tournament Coordinator, Mark Sather, who have said ‘Yes we can have A Round To Remember event as part of our charity tournament’. Alzheimer’s is more prevalent than you think and has far-reaching effects on families, business and society. We are honored to be working with the Alzheimer’s Association to help raise awareness and support for this disease,” says Diane Perillo, Program Manager, A Round To Remember.
A Round To Remember benefiting the Alzheimer’s Association is run by Condé Nast and is based in Wilton, Connecticut.
