CARCO Group introduces its new informational video series, “Did You Know?”

In its continuing efforts to keep its clients and HR partners informed and compliant, CARCO Group has created a new informational video series entitled, “Did You Know?” The subject of each video is something that CARCO feels is important to its clients and HR partners.

The first video, discusses a topic that is important in the background screening process of an applicant – “Best Practice Standards on the Use of Criminal Records in Hiring”.

Responsible hiring practices should incorporate the recommendations made by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency that enforces federal employment discrimination laws, in its 2012 “Enforcement Guidance on the Use of Arrest and Conviction Records in Employment Decisions under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.”

Presented by CARCO’s in-house expert, Fred Giles, SVP, Research Division, this video discusses the EEOC Guidance, the reaction to the Guidance and how employers can take the risk out of making the best hiring decisions.

To view the video, “Best Practice Standards on the use of Criminal Records in Hiring” can be viewed at http://youtu.be/XXKakAWUhqc

The Best Practice Standards white paper mentioned in the video sets out concrete, practical procedures that will help employers make hiring decisions that:

  • Comply with the EEOC Guidance and limit liability under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act and state and local anti-discrimination laws;
  • Comply with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA); and
  • Minimize the risk of liability from hiring an unfit employee.

If you would like further information on this topic, please view the white paper available on CARCO’s website (http://www.carcogroup.com/) or contact CARCO directly at 866-557-5984.
