“We always like to find out why family businesses thrive,” says IARFC Chairman Ed Morrow. “In looking more closely at the Guilford Financial Group, Inc., we understand the importance of the family balance Scott and Wayne deem so essential to their working together.” In the office supporting the two advisors are Scott’s sister Kelly who handles administrative and receptionist tasks and Joan, Wayne’s wife who maintains the company’s books and payroll.
“Personally, there are many bonuses working with my father,” comments Scott Staschke. “Flexibility with time and the ability to comfortably communicate with each other at any time are the top two that come to mind.”
As for Wayne, he finds it not so hard to separate the two. “We are very busy meeting clients and running the day-to-day operations of the office,” he states. “There really isn’t much time to focus on family issues. Business is what takes place in the office, and that is my focus.”
For the client, most important is the continuity of the professional timeline. Wayne who has more than 30 years in the financial planning business is looking to retire in the not too distant future. Having someone like Scott who knows the clients personally and their unique situations, helps reassure the client that there will be no worries about their portfolio down the line. Clients really do get to know the professionals and their families. Often they drop by the office just to say hi or pass a thought by the advisors.
Guilford Financial Group, Inc. continues to offer a diverse array of financial products including Life Insurance, Annuities, College 529 Plans, Long Term Care Insurance and most recently added – Medigap and Medicare Advantage plans.
