South African Town Embraces Moral Code
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) March 17, 2014 -- To make the West Cape town of Plettenberg Bay safer for all who live and work there, volunteers from the Church of Scientology of Port Elizabeth and Plettenberg Bay (Plett) South African Police Service (SAPS) officers joined forces February 16 to distribute copies of The Way to Happiness.
The Way to Happiness is a nonreligious commonsense moral code. Written by author, humanitarian and Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard, its 21 precepts provide a moral compass—a guideline for better living.
Community workers and volunteers from other churches also joined the initiative. Working together, that one afternoon they distributed nearly a thousand copies of the booklet door-to-door throughout the region.
In the lobby of the new Plettenberg Bay police station are stacks of The Way to Happiness in Xhosa, Afrikaans and English for people to take and pass along to friends. And The Way to Happiness public service announcements play on the police station television screen around the clock, to spread the word that a moral life is a better, safer and happier life for one and all.
The Way to Happiness was written in 1981. Immensely popular since its first publication, more than 109 million copies have been distributed in 111 languages in 209 countries, territories and dependencies.
