Personal Defense Network® (PDN) launches its third annual cross-country training tour March 22nd. Once again the Tour features some of the industry’s best known personal defense instructors including PDN’s own Rob Pincus, plus Mike Seeklander, Grant Cunningham, Lee Vernon, Chris Fry, Alessandro Padovani, Deryck Poole, and others. This year’s tour includes more than 50 fundamental and advanced training events, including defensive pistol and rifle handling courses, knife defense classes, personal protection for women, active shooter response, and more.
PDN joined forces with I.C.E. Training Company to create the training tour in 2012 as a tangible way of delivering high-quality, no-nonsense personal defense training to those serious about protecting themselves. “The PDN Tour brings the content on the website to life,” said Rob Pincus, Managing Editor for Personal Defense Network. “Reading an article or watching a video is a great way to learn, but showing up to a course takes everything to a much higher level.”
This year’s training sessions, which run from March 22nd through August 16th will take place across the US, making more than 25 stops from the Atlantic coast to central Alaska. “Alaska is the only state that I’ve not only never taught in, but that I’ve actually never even visited,” said Pincus. “So ending the tour there this year is something that I am really looking forward to.” The Training Tour provides students access to top trainers who contribute to Personal Defense Network’s extensive library of videos and articles. For some people, the classes are truly life changing events. “It’s about a lot more than collecting t-shirts, stickers and getting the chance to shoot a demo gun. We teach life and death skills and concepts that people take with them to develop their ability to protect themselves and their families.”
The tour has also generated a lot of interest among personal defense manufacturers and retail and industry organizations. This year, seven leading companies have partnered with Personal Defense Network to sponsor the Tour including returning sponsors Crossbreed Holsters, GunVault, Gander Mountain Academy and USCCA, and new sponsors include CMMG, Extreme Beam and Springfield Armory. Sponsors are providing samples and door-prizes for students at select classes. “I’m very excited about this year's tour,” said Pincus. “We've got some great new sponsors and I really appreciate the continued support from those who have been with us since the Tour’s inaugural year – GunVault and Crossbreed Holsters.”
