Sunnyvale, CA (PRWEB) March 13, 2014
Freeslate, Inc., the leading provider of high throughput research solutions, today announced that Crystal Pharmatech, a leader in solid-state chemistry services for drug development, has selected Freeslate’s CM Protégé PharmD System for high throughput polymorph, salt, co-crystal, and solubility screens of active pharmaceutical ingredients (API).
Crystal Pharmatech is a global, technology-driven solid state research company with labs in Suzhou, China and North Brunswick, New Jersey that guides clients in the discovery and selection of the optimal solid phase for drug development using all aspects of preformulation studies. With its clients demanding a broader understanding of their API, the Freeslate CM Protégé PharmD System will be used to extend the polymorph and solubility screens completed without increasing the time or resources required.
“Our global labs offer a variety of manual screening techniques for our clients. To further increase our capabilities, especially when sample is limited, we are looking forward to using Freeslate’s CM Protégé PharmD System to increase our throughput and improve our outcomes,” said Alex Chen, Founder and CEO of Crystal Pharmatech. “Having used Freeslate products before, I am very familiar with the benefits they bring in terms of reducing cost, time, and labor. Their level of automation and ease of use are unsurpassed.”
“We are excited that Crystal Pharmatech has selected our CM Protégé PharmD platform for their solid form screening, as they have deep expertise in applying high throughput to drug development,” said John S. Senaldi, President and CEO of Freeslate. “Asia is a key expansion area for Freeslate, so collaboration with a global company like Crystal Pharmatech is another step in getting our products adopted throughout China.”
Crystal Pharmatech will also serve as a reference site and demo lab for Freeslate, hosting customers and product demonstrations and participating in speaking engagements to help educate others on the power of high throughput research tools. The two companies will also collaborate on future applications.
Freeslate’s CM Protégé PharmD System brings the benefits of high throughput solid and solubility screening to a broader range of researchers with an easy-to-use, fully automated platform. The System can evaluate up to 384 crystallization conditions per run to rapidly turn around solid form screening projects and save users valuable material through its ability to utilize approximately 1 g of API per solid form screen. Solid forms can be analyzed by birefringence, x-ray powder diffraction, and Raman spectroscopy directly from the glass Universal Substrate without any manual manipulation of fragile crystals. Other analyses and experiments, such as solid form stability, can also be conducted directly on the glass Universal Substrate. Heating, cooling, and mixing on-deck allows for simultaneous slurry, precipitation, cooling, and evaporation experiments on a single platform.
The CM Protégé PharmD System uses Freeslate’s Lab Execution and Analysis (LEA) software for library design, protocol development/execution, data analysis, and reporting. This allows users to design complex experiments quickly using its logical, recipe-oriented approach. Using LEA, experimental conditions can be linked to analytical data for easy viewing and reporting.
