Monetization for the Android may not be as straightforward as monetization for the iOS, but it’s important to note that the actual revenue potential may actually exceed the iTunes Marketplace.

The following is a new post issued by FreshTech on behalf of Armor for Android. The following are excerpts:

"Don’t shy away from the ‘droid. Many developers find it difficult to monetize for the Android, and thus avoid the platform entirely; this can be a costly mistake. Not only has Android’s market share increased incredibly in the past few years, but it also shows no signs of slowing," said Christopher with Armor for Android.

Christopher concludes, "If you want to get into the Android market, you need to understand how large it truly is. 75 percent of all applications downloaded are for the Android OS, not the iPhone — and yet, the iPhone still accounts for almost half of the sales. Why is this? It’s because the Android market prefers free applications. The Android marketplace is much easier to post an application to. iOS apps undergo a more rigorous selection process."

“The Android marketplace simply doesn’t have a culture of buying the way that the iOS marketplace does,” says Scott Garcia, an expert in the Android development industry for Armor for Android."
