CSU-Global Launches Engage! Online Instructor Development Series
Greenwood Village, CO (PRWEB) March 13, 2014 -- Colorado State University-Global Campus (CSUGlobal.edu) is pleased to announce the launch of a new online instructor development series to help prepare participants to effectively engage adult learners in an online environment.
“As a state university focused on academic excellence, student retention, and alumni workplace success, we are excited to offer training opportunities for educators looking to advance their knowledge in the best practices of online education,” stated Dr. Becky Takeda-Tinker, Colorado State University-Global Campus President. “Built on the principles that our distinguished faculty members utilize on a daily basis, this series will offer tried and tested processes, perspectives, theories, and practices from experts in educating adult online learners.”
The first course in the series, Foundation, provides participants with the essential components for effective online instruction. Designed for individuals interested in teaching adults but who may not have previous online instructor experience, the course includes an introduction to online learning, an overview of characteristics of adult online learners, technologies that facilitate and support student engagement and assessment, and course management techniques. Upon successful completion of the course, participants receive a certificate and 45 Continuing Education Units. The comprehensive 10-week course is offered at a cost of $450.
“This course is an excellent way for industry experts and teachers to become better versed in the methodologies of online instruction for adults, especially in regards to student interaction and learning outcome achievement,” continued Dr. Takeda-Tinker.
The Engage! Online Instructor Development Series is the first offering in the university’s new Academy for Education Innovation, which provides a multi-pronged approach to facilitate leading edge educational paradigms for outcome-driven success. Learn more by visiting CSUGlobal.edu/engage.
