"Leading Edge," hosted by Jimmy Johnson will cover the dairy industry and its importance to the US economy.

The dairy industry provides more than 900,000 jobs in the US alone. More than 51,000 US families take part in providing milk to consumers in the US and internationally, and about 97 percent of all milk farms are owned by families, not big corporations. While about 85 percent of milk is produced through farms with more than 100 cows, 74 percent of farms have fewer than 100 cows, making much of dairy production benefiting small business. The dairy industry is estimated to be a $140 billion dollar industry.

Jimmy Johnson will host "Leading Edge" that will educate his viewers on the diary industry: what it is, what up and coming technology will improve it, and the benefit to the economy. It will also address hot topics and current trends among dairy farmers.

The series is distributed to Public Television stations throughout the United States and is not distributed through PBS. Please visit the Leading Edge website at or email the producers at info(at)leadingedgeseries(dot)com for more information.
