American Music Theatre Earns Academy of Country Music Award Nomination for Small Venue of the Year
Lancaster, Pennsylvania (PRWEB) March 17, 2014 -- Lancaster County’s American Music Theatre has been nominated for 2014 Venue of the Year – Small Capacity by the Academy of Country Music (ACM). This honor is presented annually to an outstanding venue with a maximum capacity of 4,000 seats.
One of five (5) venues in the nation competing for the award, American Music Theatre is the only theatre in Pennsylvania to be selected and one of only two (2) in the Mid-Atlantic region in the Small, Medium, and Large Capacity categories.
“We’re honored by the Academy of Country Music’s award nomination and are extremely proud to host the foremost country music talent in the nation,” said Jim Martin, President/CEO of American Music Theatre. “The Venue of the Year award truly speaks to the caliber of artists and entertainers that have graced our stage, as well as our region’s love of country music.”
“The Academy of Country Music is proud to recognize the work of Lancaster County’s American Music Theatre,” says ACM Executive Vice President and Managing Director Tiffany Moon. “The venue has long been a supporter of country artists and, as a nominee for the first-ever Venue of the Year – Small Capacity award, we are excited to honor the American Music Theatre as a venue that does great work supporting the country music genre year-round.”
Known for its wide variety of performances, American Music Theatre is the only theatre in the country that features both touring concerts and original shows. Since 1997 the 1,600-seat venue has hosted numerous country powerhouses, including Little Big Town, Darius Rucker, Kellie Pickler, Miranda Lambert, Alabama, Trisha Yearwood, Willie Nelson, Martina McBride, Loretta Lynn, Vince Gill, and more. In 2013, American Music Theatre boasted over 30 country acts. Upcoming performers include Clint Black, Merle Haggard, Thompson Square, and Scotty McCreery.
The Venue of the Year winner, chosen by a panel of industry professionals approved by the Academy of Country Music Board of Directors, will be named during the 8th Annual ACM Honors event on September 9, 2014 in Nashville, TN.
Award criteria includes buying or promoting a minimum of five (5) country concerts/dates in the prior calendar year, being in good standing with all agents, and helping to promote country ticket sales.
