City of Newport Adds New Layer of Crowd Sourced Security for St. Patrick's Day Celebration
Newport, RI (PRWEB) March 13, 2014 -- The City of Newport, Rhode Island Police Department today announced the addition of a new mobile application that empowers citizens to use their smartphones to enhance the safety of the City’s 58th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The Newport Police urges citizens to download the free VizSAFE app to their iPhones or Androids and support emergency responders by sharing visual safety content to make St. Patrick’s Day safer.
As recent events have demonstrated, citizens with smartphones have recorded photos and videos that have proven valuable to community safety. VizSAFE efficiently streamlines, organizes and delivers this content instantly to the emergency responders responsible for public safety. The mobile app and web platform are designed to help engaged citizens participate in event safety through the crowdsourcing and sharing of visual safety content with first responders in real-time. Every parade attendee can become an active participant in St. Patrick’s Day safety.
“The citizens of Newport are the greatest asset in keeping the community safe,” said Peter Mottur, President & CEO of Middletown, RI based VizSAFE. “It is especially satisfying to provide this technology to our first responders and fellow citizens right here in Rhode Island. We hope everyone has a safe and fun St Patrick's Day.”
