At the recent Golden Isles Association of Realtors (GIAR) 76th Annual Awards Banquet, two Hodnett Cooper Real Estate, Inc. agents were recognized for their service.

Rachel Fitzpatrick, REALTOR at Hodnett Cooper, received the Dartee Gayner Community Service Award. Each year, the recipient is recognized for dedicating time, talents and energy to giving back to the community. Leighann Cheatham, President of GIAR, says “Rachel’s contributions to the community are vast and varied and she embodies the giving spirit of Dartee Gayner for whom the award is named.”

Rachel is actively involved in the St. Simons Island Elementary Parent-Teacher Association and currently serves as its Vice President and is also on the School Council. Believing reading is essential to learning, Rachel reads books at St. Simons Elementary School and donates books to Burroughs-Mollette Elementary. Rachel is an active member of the St. Simons Community Church and is especially involved with their youth programs, serving as a small group leader to middle school girls. Each year, she serves as a camp counselor for a week long statewide church camp.

Rachel is also an active participant in her neighborhood, known as “So-Glo,” or “South of Gloucester.” Last year, she organized a block party for children in the downtown Brunswick area that provided safe and fun family events. With her annual “Don’t be a Scrooge” Christmas party, Rachel generates donations to sponsor families in need.

Actively involved with the American Cancer Society, Rachel walks in Relay for Life and volunteers for the annual breast cancer fashion show luncheon. She serves on the steering committee for the 2014 YWCA Tribute for Women Leaders event. In addition, Rachel participates in the Shop with a REALTOR event, the Humane Society REALTOR Day event, serves at Manna House, assists in food drives and personally spearheads coat drives. As a GIAR REALTOR, Rachel was the Chairman and Co-Chair for the community relations committee. “Rachel’s tireless involvement in the community makes her an outstanding member of the Hodnett Cooper Real Estate team,” says Pat Hodnett Cooper, Owner and Broker, “we are pleased she has been recognized, though we know awards are not what motivates her.”

At the same GIAR Awards Banquet, Jerry Rhyne, Associate Broker at Hodnett Cooper Real Estate, was awarded REALTOR of the Year honors for 2013. The REALTOR of the Year is awarded for civic involvement, business accomplishments and involvement in the local, state and national Association of REALTORS.

Jerry has been actively involved in the Golden Isles Association of Realtors board and served as President in 2012. He is also active on the Multiple Listing Service board, serving as President in 2013.

“Jerry works diligently to stay informed of and involved in any activities that affect the real estate industry,” says Leighann Cheatham. Jerry attends local GIAR functions and town hall meetings. He is active on the Technology, Governmental Affairs and RPAC committees and serves as the instructor on the Navica Multiple Listing systems for GIAR.

At the state level, he attended the Georgia Association of REALTORS (GAR) President’s Inaugural and Legislative Day Convention and in the fall of 2013, he attended the GAR conference and trade show in San Destin, Florida. Jerry is an active member of the GAR Forms, Audit and Scholarship committees. Nationally, Jerry attended the National Association of REALTORS mid-year convention in Washington, DC in May, 2013.

At the community level and as a Retired US Army Colonel, Jerry is actively involved with the Military Officer Association of America and the Golden Isles Council of the Navy League. He is the long-time Treasurer for both organizations.

Pat Hodnett Cooper lauds the award, “With a comprehensive understanding of legal, political and technological issues affecting the real estate industry both locally and nationally, Jerry is an invaluable member of the Hodnett Cooper Real Estate team and the Golden Isles real estate community.”
