Morristown, Newton Medical Centers Again Ranked as New Jersey’s Top Hospitals
Morristown & Newton, NJ (PRWEB) March 13, 2014 -- Morristown Medical Center and Newton Medical Center, both part of Atlantic Health System, today were each ranked the #1 hospital in New Jersey overall in their respective size categories by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd., one of the nation’s most respected health care research and information companies. These rankings are published in Inside Jersey magazine’s April 2014 issue.
Morristown Medical Center, which has 687 beds, was ranked by physicians as the top hospital overall in New Jersey (with more than 350 beds) for the fourth consecutive year. Newton Medical Center, which has 148 beds, was ranked by physicians as the top mid-sized hospital overall in the state for the third consecutive year among hospitals with 350 beds or fewer.

A Magnet hospital for nursing excellence and a national Beacon Award winner, Morristown Medical Center has proven itself as a top destination for quality care in New Jersey and one of the best in the New York metropolitan area. The hospital has three-year accreditations by both the Commission on Cancer for comprehensive treatment of cancer patients, and by the American College of Radiology for digital mammography services. The hospital received the 2012 Outstanding Achievement Award by the American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer. The home of the Charles L. Tice Heart Center for Diagnostic Services, Newton Medical Center was also recently accredited for a third consecutive time by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC), and is one of a small number of hospitals in New Jersey to be accredited in all of the following three echocardiography procedures: Adult transthoracic; Adult transesophogeal; and Adult stress.
More than 2,000 licensed physicians in New Jersey participated in the online survey by Castle Connolly, which was distributed in the fall 2013. Physicians cast more than 33,000 votes on the treatment of specific medical conditions and top overall hospitals in the state. The results were divided into two categories: hospitals with more than 350 beds and those with 350 beds or fewer.
