Director Neil Payne from RockChalk Pictures Chooses Crowdfunding Site Vision Launch to Take On Female Equality in Nike Spec Commercial
Seaford, NY (PRWEB) March 18, 2014 -- Neil "NP" Payne, of RockChalk Pictures, has just started his crowdfunding campaign on Vision Launch to fund a Nike spec commercial called "Girl Power," which is currently in the final development stage. The spot will highlight a young female soccer player who battles huge opponents on the soccer field in a classic David-and-Goliath scenario.
Payne says the commercial deals with breaking down and overcoming barriers in life, with a specific focus on girl empowerment, equality, and a tribute to Title IX: a law passed in 1972 that requires gender equity for boys and girls in every educational program that receives federal funding. Many people have never heard of Title IX, and most people who know about it think it applies only to sports; but athletics is only one of ten key areas addressed by the law.
The spot ends with the young girl and goalie in a respectful face off on a now-leveled playing field—one that is created through the young woman's drive and determination to overcome the insurmountable odds she faces. Payne hopes if the commercial is ultimately picked up by the sports giant Nike, that he will be able to broadcast his message focused on female equality to a national, if not international audience.
In 2008, Payne completed his MFA in Film Production at Chapman University with an emphasis in directing. Since graduating, he has directed music videos and spec commercials to expand his craft as a director and producer and has won awards ranging from Best Director in Music Video at the First Glance Film Festival Hollywood to Best Commercial at the California International Shorts Festival. As a director, Payne strongly believes in collaborating with talented artists, leading them through pre-production to post-production while bringing to life visual concepts and thought-provoking ideas that inspire and challenge him.
Over the years, Payne has developed a versatile visual style which often deals with subtle manipulation of light and color to compliment and reinforce the story and substance of his projects. Payne uses the newest technology available to him to advance his filmmaking process.
Payne, who originally hails from the state of Kansas and currently resides in California, feels this will be a rewarding commercial that will inspire all of us to encourage our own young girls to shoot for the stars and not allow barriers to stop them from achieving their dreams. Payne chose to crowdfund this project to help him raise the funds for the project as well as to allow the public to be involved with its creation.
