KM Institute to Debut Its First “Certified Knowledge Specialist” Program in Taxonomy and Search Solutions
Washington, DC (PRWEB) March 17, 2014 -- KM Institute (KMI), the global leader in Knowledge Management Certification, is about to deliver its first Certified Knowledge Specialist (CKS) 4-day class, April 7-10, in Reston, VA, at the Sheraton Reston (just outside Washington, DC).
The CKS is a new Certification by KMI designed to take a ‘deep dive’ focus into a specific KM topic. In the case of the April class, the CKS will focus on Taxonomy and Search Solutions.
More information about the program can be found on KMI’s April events page.
KMI has tapped a local expert in Taxonomy, Mr. Zach Wahl, President of Enterprise Search, to deliver the 2-day portion of the CKS that covers Taxonomy in-depth, called the “Master Class.” Mr. Wahl is also a popular Guest Speaker in KMI’s public CKM classes.
“We are very excited,” says Eric Weidner, Director of Business Development and Co-Founder of KMI, “not only because we are expanding our curriculum and exploring these important topics in much greater detail, but also because we’ve added such talented experts as Mr. Wahl and others to our team of instructors.”
Wahl agreed, “I am thrilled to be partnering with KMI to provide taxonomy design instruction and services. This is a great union of two organizations that focus on business value and practical KM.”
The CKS combines the core of the acclaimed CKM as the foundation or base-line study (the 2-day CKP, Certified Knowledge Practitioner), plus the 2-day Master Class - the ‘deep-dive’ specialty focus (example: Taxonomy).
After taking the 4-day class, students will prep for the exam by studying online modules, and they then take an online exam for their CKS designation. KMI’s students get a blended learning experience with the live class as well as online modules (instructor video) – an industry exclusive.
KMI plans to develop several new CKS programs in 2014, including Taxonomy, Knowledge Capture Methods, Information Architecture, Innovation, and in 2015, they expect to roll out at least 3-4 more CKS programs.
CKS classes will normally be delivered the same week as the Certified Knowledge Manager (CKM) class. All students will join together on Days 1-2 (Mon-Tues) and then break off into a CKS Master Class, or stay in the CKP/CKM path.
