Turtle Creek Chorale Selected as a Finalist for IKEA Life Improvement Challenge Grant
Dallas, TX (PRWEB) March 17, 2014 -- Get ready to vote from March 17 through March 28. Turtle Creek Chorale (TCC) has been selected as a finalist to participate in the IKEA Life Improvement Challenge. The Life Improvement Challenge is part of IKEA’s “Life Improvement Project,” where every IKEA store commits up to $10,000 to support local community initiatives. If selected, TCC will win a makeover grant from IKEA Frisco, including IKEA products, services and in-kind donations.
The IKEA Life Improvement Challenge would support the creation of a robust music library so that Turtle Creek Chorale could better serve the musical community. This would allow TCC to better partner with local organizations by both sharing its more than 750 musical compilations for them to perform, as well as enriching educational programming for local high school students.
TCC consistently contributes to the Dallas arts community with performances known for their artistic excellence, including specific cultural and social objectives. TCC’s educational programs focus on choral development and awareness for the choral art form, offering numerous community outreach concerts, free ticket programs and service events. Annually, Artistic Director Trey Jacobs teaches vocal classes to more than 600 students in Dallas-area schools and provides courses for arts and choral teachers with the goal of developing the next generation of artists and arts patrons.
TCC leads the choral music art form through the premiering of new compositions and commissioning new works by leading composers, thereby expanding men’s choral repertoire.
Executive director Kym Sosolik says, “We are so excited to be a finalist for the IKEA Life Improvement Challenge. Together, Turtle Creek Chorale’s commitment to our community, coupled with IKEA’s dedication to being ‘the life improvement store,’ allows for so many incredible opportunities to bring our love of choral music to younger generations. I will be voting every day and making sure that all of my friends and colleagues vote daily as well.”
Voting results will be announced on April 1, 2014.
