Will-Burt’s Strongest Locking Pneumatic Mast Engineered for Mobile Communications

Will-Burt's Ultra Heavy-Duty Telescoping Mast

The Ultra Heavy-Duty Mast delivers substantial payload capability and significant unguyed performance.

The Will-Burt Company, the world’s premier manufacturer of telescoping mast and tower elevation solutions for mobile communication systems, is introducing its new Ultra Heavy-Duty pneumatic mast with significant antenna elevation capabilities at the International Wireless Communications Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada March 24th (Booth #6115).

The Ultra Heavy-Duty Mast offers a total payload lifting capacity of 1,200 pounds (544 kg) at 59 feet (18m). The top tube of the mast can deploy payloads up to 1,000 pounds (453 kg) and another 200 pounds (91 kg) can be deployed from intermediate tubes. The nested height of 11.3 feet (3.4 m) eliminates the need for a tilt system, delivering cost savings, reducing complexity and allowing for more payload capacity on a COW or COLT.

The Ultra Heavy-Duty is a telescoping pneumatic mast constructed of weather-resistant anodized aluminum with easy-to-operate and rugged positive locking pins for safe, long-term deployment without air pressure. Compared to hydraulic steel masts, it delivers higher lifting capacity at a lower weight of 880 pounds (399 kg). The Ultra Heavy-Duty Mast does not require hydraulic fluid for elevation thus eliminating the potential for environmentally hazardous leaks. The strength of the Ultra Heavy-Duty Mast delivers significant unguyed performance, providing easier antenna deployment in paved parking lots and urban areas.

Will-Burt’s COO, John Stroia states, “The Ultra Heavy-Duty Mast is extending the capabilities of our pneumatic masts. This unique mast is the only one of its kind in the world that can provide this high level of functionality using proven, effective pneumatic mast technology. Will-Burt’s engineering team has delivered a mast that breaks down conventional wisdom about just what a pneumatic mast can do. Rigorous testing has proven that this mast will deliver the performance needed in the evolving mobile communications industry.”

The flexible design of the Ultra Heavy-Duty Mast delivers scalable height and payload capabilities to meet a customer’s specific requirements. Will-Burt’s history of designing and manufacturing pneumatic masts in the USA for over 30 years provides the knowledge, experience and capability to design a safe and robust elevation solution that will perform maintenance-free for years. As with all Will-Burt pneumatic masts, the Ultra Heavy-Duty requires no maintenance and is covered by a five year manufacturer’s limited warranty.

“We recognize that the mobile communications industry is continuing to evolve rapidly and this evolution requires new elevation solutions,” said Jeff Evans, Will-Burt's President, CEO and Chairman. “We listened to the market and have delivered a mast that not only provides significant payload lifting capacity but an elevation system that can deploy multiple payloads at intermediate heights and in some cases, eliminate the need for guying. The Ultra Heavy-Duty Mast is the ideal elevation solution for COWs and COLTs that require placement of a significant number of antennas.”
