Salisbury-Rowan Community Action Agency Announces Open Enrollment for Its Head Start Program
Salisbury, NC (PRWEB) March 19, 2014 -- The Salisbury-Rowan Community Action Agency, Inc. (SRCAA) will begin open enrollment for the Head Start and Early Head Start Program. Applications will be taken on March 20-21, 2014 and April 2-3, 2014 for children ages 0 to 5 years and expectant mothers. The applications will be taken at the agency's central office located at 1300 West Bank, Street, Salisbury, NC from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., both days. Though space is limited, walk-ins and appointments are accepted.
The early childhood education program (Head Start) services are free to qualified families. Documents required for the application are: child's birth certificate, Income verification (example, 2013 W2, income tax, letter from employer). Parents are also encouraged to bring recent immunization, physical and dental records. Documentation is also encouraged for children with diagnosed disabilities.
SRCAA has operated a Head Start & Early Head Start Program for almost fifty years. Head Start promotes school readiness of children ages birth to 5 from low-income families by enhancing their cognitive, social and emotional development. Head Start programs provide a learning environment that supports children's growth in:

•Cognition and general knowledge
•Physical development and health
•Social and emotional development
•Approaches to learning
Head Start programs provide comprehensive services to enrolled children and their families, which include health, nutrition, social services and other services determined to be necessary by family needs assessments, in addition to education and cognitive development services. Head Start services are designed to be responsive to each child and family’s ethnic, cultural and linguistic heritage.
