The issue of how far a pet owner would go to protect and take care of their pet has recently sparked interest when a family of four decided that they would rather be homeless and live in a car than to give up their pet Pit Bull Terrier. According to the family, many landlords do not allow Pit Bulls in their complex, which resulted in the family deciding to live in their car. Although this may be an extreme situation, Tellwut's online survey found that 25% of over 3,000 respondents felt that if presented with the same situation they would consider being homeless for their pet.
As the Tellwut panel base is full of pet lovers, Tellwut viewed surveys posted by their members in order to find out to what lengths Tellwutters were willing to go in order to ensure the best for their beloved pet. With over 2,000 online survey results in, Tellwut found that:
- 69% allowed their pets to sleep in bed with them;
- 91% felt that their pets were part of the family;
- 80% felt their life had improved by having a pet; and
- 49% of respondents celebrate their pet’s birthday.
When asked by which means Tellwutters have chosen to celebrate their pet’s birthday, online survey results indicated that 62% of voters purchase toys and treats, 10% throw a party; 10% take their pet somewhere special and 18% give a cake to their precious pet.
It is clear that the love for a pet is undeniable; whether it means being homeless in order to keep your pet or baking your pet a cake!
