Gathering of the Vibes Music Festival Announces Initial Line-Up to Include John Fogerty, Widespread Panic, Ziggy Marley, and More! 25,000+ Attendees Expected to Attend
Bridgeport, CT (PRWEB) March 17, 2014 -- For the first time in the 19-year history of Gathering of the Vibes, the initial festival lineup was announced live and on stage, Saturday March 15, at New York’s legendary Capitol Theatre, in Port Chester, NY. John Fogerty, Widespread Panic, Umphrey’s McGee, Maceo Parker, moe., and Ziggy Marley are among the acts confirmed to appear.
“John Fogerty is a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, a living legend, and he’s been on our dream list for years,” remarks Ken Hays, festival founder. “Widespread Panic is another band that we’ve long sought to play at the Vibes. I’m psyched to have them as a headliner, and I know the VibeTribe feels the same way!”
Returning favorites include: Dark Star Orchestra, Strangefolk, Dumpstaphunk, Umphrey’s McGee, moe., Ryan Montbleau, Deep Banana Blackout, Kung Fu, and beloved Master of Ceremonies Wavy Gravy. Ken Hays explains, “It felt natural to announce our lineup during a Deep Banana Blackout (DBB) and Kung Fu show. Bands like DBB, Kung Fu, Strangefolk, and Dark Star Orchestra have deep roots in the VibeTribe, and folks tell me seeing them year after year feels like spending their summer vacation with old friends.”
Bands making their first appearance at Vibes include Rodrigo y Gabriela, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, Slightly Stoopid, Langhorne Slim & The Law, Donna the Buffalo, Leftover Salmon, and White Denim. Says Ken Hays, “Nothing makes me happier than seeing the VibeTribe collectively discover their new favorite band at the Vibes. This year has a particularly strong variety of first time performers, genuinely a slew of bands that I cannot wait to see!”
The Vibes is famous for unique and inspired collaborations, and this year is no exception. Vibes favorites Keller Williams, Jeff Austin of Yonder Mountain String Band, and Reed Mathis of Tea Leaf Green are teaming up as “Grateful Grass,” while Grateful Dead percussionists and world music favorite Rhythm Devils, Mickey Hart & Bill Kreutzmann of the Grateful Dead, join forces with The Disco Biscuits for a genre-stretching set.
In total, Gathering of the Vibes will host nearly fifty bands over four days on multiple stages located throughout the beautiful and historic Seaside Park along the Long Island Sound.
