Florida Named Top Overall Seed as March Madness 2014 Brackets Released
(PRWEB) March 17, 2014 -- The March Madness 2014 brackets were released on “Selection Sunday” and Florida was selected as the tournament’s top overall seed. Undefeated Wichita State, Arizona and ACC champion Virginia grabbed other number-one seeds.
Now, the online leader in sports brackets has the complete March Madness 2014 bracket and is offering fans a complimentary, printable version.
“It wasn’t surprising to see Florida, Arizona, Virginia and Wichita State grab the four number-one seeds,” said PrintableBrackets.net spokesperson Zaniel Worth. “What was surprising was how some of the other top teams were seeded, no more so than Louisville.”
After winning both the American Athletic Conference regular season and tournament title, defending national champion Louisville earned only a number-four seed. After winning the Big Ten tournament, Michigan State also was given a four-seed. SMU, which finished 23-9 under legendary head coach Larry Brown, was left off the March Madness 2014 brackets completely.
“Many people and college basketball pundits were left scratching their heads Sunday night,” said Worth. “Louisville and Michigan State each have enough talent to win the entire tournament yet they only impressed the committee enough to land four seeds.”
The NCAA men’s basketball tournament begins with the “First Four” in Dayton, Ohio on Tuesday. In the first game, Albany will meet Mount St. Mary’s for the right to take on Florida. In Tuesday’s nightcap, Cal Poly will clash with Texas Southern. The winner will meet Wichita State.
On Wednesday, NC State will square off with Xavier for the right to face Saint Louis. The “First Four” wraps up with Iowa taking on Tennessee. The winner will advance to face UMass. The tournament begins in earnest with the second round on Thursday.
PrintableBrackets.net has the March Madness 2014 brackets. In addition, the site is offering visitors the NCAA women’s basketball bracket as well as the NIT Tournament bracket. PrintableBrackets.net will also have the Sweet 16 bracket after the first weekend of the tournament.
