Queens Woman Regains Mobility in Her Legs Through Physical Therapy
Astoria, NY (PRWEB) March 18, 2014 -- Kathy Kelty was diagnosed with MS in 1985, but she has not suffered much from her debilitation until recently. Ms. Kelty, a nurse by trade, was unable to walk or even move her legs just a few months ago, but all of that changed when she began her treatment at Hands-On Physical Therapy of NY in Astoria.
“When I came in here, the plan was to come just one time because it is too far from my house,” Ms. Kelty said. “The minute I came in, I was blown away by the professionalism and excellence of everybody.”
Aylin Mahmut, PT, DPT, who has recently assumed the position of Clinical Director of the Astoria Office, believes that, “The patient experience here is a positive one because of the great treatment we provide and the positive environment we maintain in the office. Positive thinking and positive energy create happiness, which in the end, facilitate healing of the injured body part and overall well-being.”
Ms. Kelty received highly specialized Manual Therapy techniques involving hands-on treatment, as well as exercise that has returned mobility to her legs. “When I first came here, I was only able to move one of my legs a little bit, and the other leg not at all, but now I can move them both just fine. My next step is to be able to stand and walk, and I know that's not far away.”
According to the happy patient, much credit must be given to the staff of the clinic. “There is no place that I've found, not just in Queens, but in New York, that comes up to the expertise and professionalism that I find here. Not just with the Physical Therapists, but even with the Aides and the clerical staff. Everyone!”
Dr. Mahmut is not surprised, “We have a great staff here. We are energetic, well-educated, professional and friendly, and we work with our patients to achieve their goals to get their personal best. At the end of the day, we are here to improve the health of our patients and to change their lives in a more positive direction.”
Hands-On Physical Therapy of NY has four offices in New York City: Astoria (Queens); Bay Ridge (Brooklyn); 78th Street & Madison Avenue (Manhattan – PhysioCare Physical Therapy) and 57th Street and 6th Avenue (Manhattan – PhysioCare Physical Therapy).
