The announcement at AOL’s Cause of the Day follows a banner year for Filter of Hope. The organization distributed and installed over 5,000 portable water filters in over 30 countries. Each filter provides up to 150 gallons a day of clean, safe water for thousands of people living in some of the harshest conditions on the planet. This adds up to over 291 million gallons of clean, safe water every year for these families.

Along with their other ongoing project, Filter of Hope—in a joint effort with Kind Kart and Convoy of Hope—is distributing 5,000 water filters to the people of the Philippines as part of ongoing disaster relief in the wake of Typoon Haiyan. Filter distribution will be focused on the islands of Cebu and Panay.
