Cherice Calhoun of BlackNLA Honored at the Black Business Association Salute to Black Women Business Conference & Awards Luncheon
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) March 19, 2014 -- In recognition of Women’s History Month, the Black Business Association (BBA), one of the oldest active ethnic business organizations in the nation, will host its 2014 Salute to Black Women Business Conference, Vendor Faire and Awards Luncheon on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at the Hyatt Regency LA Hotel, 333 So Figueroa Street, Los Angeles, CA, 90071. This event is in collaboration with the National Women’s History Project (NWHP). NWHP’s 2014 theme is, “Celebrating Women of Character, Courage and Commitment”.
The objective of the Business Conference is to inform and educate African American women of all ages. Workshops will be offered on Financial Planning, Health and Wellness. A special workshop, sponsored by Northrop Grumman, entitled “Role Models for Success,” is for young ladies 13-18 years old. The BBA Awards Luncheon honors national and local women whose character, courage and commitment has resulted in exceptional achievements and contributions.
One of the distinguished honorees is Cherice R. Calhoun, recipient of the BBA Community-Based Business Award. Cherice created BlackNLA.com having the desire to have one source to obtain any and all information pertaining to African-Americans living in Los Angeles. Green, Social Activist, Pioneer of the Year Award- Dr. Ora Mobley Sweeting, Author, Human Rights Activist.
Other honorees include; Executive Leadership Award- Karen Slade, VP/General Manager, KJLH Radio Station, Professional Excellence Award- Cherilyn Lee, PhD, Holistic Health Practitioner, NutriMed Integrated Healthcare Center, Emerging Leader Award- Starlett Quarles, Radio Host, THE Dialogue and President, Urban X Marketing, . Young Achievement Award- Autumn Williams, Partnerships Manager, Ashoka's Youth Venture.
