Mirabel Golf Club Completes 6th Annual Hope for the Cause Charity Event to Benefit the Scottsdale Healthcare Research Institute
Scottsdale, Ariz (PRWEB) March 18, 2014 -- Mirabel, Scottsdale’s premier private golf club, recently completed its sixth annual Hope for the Cause Charity Classic, with proceeds benefiting the Virginia G. Piper Cancer Center Clinical Trials program. Additionally, the members are committed to supporting a variety of local nonprofit organizations throughout the year.
Since 2009, Mirabel residents, members and friends have come together each March to raise awareness and funds for cancer research through its annual Hope for the Cause Charity Classic. The two week-long series of events includes a 5k, men’s and women’s golf tournament, and ladies’ tennis match as well as a reception with a live and silent auction. In the first six years, Hope for the Cause has donated more than $900,000 to benefit the Scottsdale Healthcare Research Institute at Scottsdale Healthcare’s Virginia G. Piper Cancer Center. Under the leadership of world–renowned cancer researcher Dr. Daniel Von Hoff, the nationally acclaimed program focuses on personalizing medicine to fight the war against cancer.
The club’s charitable acts are not limited to Hope for the Cause and Mirabel has been a long-time supporter of the local high school, Toys for Tots and the Foothills Food Bank. A recent charity luncheon at the club raised $13,000 for the food bank to support individuals and families in the Foothills area that are in need. Mirabel members also host food drives and volunteer their time at the food bank.
This May, Mirabel will host the 3rd Annual HopeKids Charity Golf Classic. The tournament will raise money to support HopeKids which works to provide an ongoing calendar of events for families who have a child with a life-threatening medical condition. Official event ambassadors, Aaron Baddeley and Tom Lehman, will be onsite at Mirabel for the tournament as well.
"The true heart of Mirabel is its membership … a membership that shows a great deal of heart for the community," said Dennis Evans, President of the Mirabel Board of Directors. "The amount of time, talent and fund raising that our members commit to support our broader community speaks volumes about the Mirabel Community."
The North Scottsdale club offers both golf and social memberships and property ownership is not required for membership, but availability is limited.
