Online and mobile game developer Miniclip supports Sport Relief to raise funds for charity
London, UK (PRWEB UK) 20 March 2014 -- A leading developer of online and mobile free-to-play games today announced a campaign with Sport Relief. Miniclip, developers of the hit game 8 Ball Pool, are to include a special limited edition Sport Relief coin pack in the game on http://www.miniclip.com and Facebook, which will be sold on behalf of the charity.
Miniclip has been inspired to support Sport Relief by the epic Battle of the Backsides, in which UK soccer stars Alan Shearer and Robbie Savage raced each other to be the first to sit on 45,000 seats at the iconic Wembley Stadium, all to raise money for the charity.
8 Ball Pool by Miniclip is an enormously-popular online multiplayer game, allowing users to play for free against friends or challenge other players from all around the world in tournaments to win virtual currency and awards. The multi-platform hit will be donating to Sport Relief a minimum of £2.10 from every special coin pack purchased between March 19th - 26th March 2014.
“Miniclip is very proud to be supporting Sport Relief 2014 and raising awareness of the outstanding work they are doing,” said Jeremy Wadia, Chief Operating Officer of Miniclip. “It’s not quite as physical as Shearer and Savage’s ‘Battle of the Backsides’ Wembley event but by playing 8 Ball Pool, fans can have great fun from sitting in the comfort of their own homes and still be supporting Sport Relief!”
Sport Relief takes place from 21st - 23rd March and it’s already shaping up to be an unmissable weekend with more than 1,000 events taking place across the UK. Money raised through Sport Relief will help people living incredibly tough lives in the UK and across the world. You can find and enter your local events at http://www.sportrelief.com
“Sport Relief is all about fun and games, so we’re thrilled to have Miniclip’s support,” said Sarah Whitley, Fundraising Development Manager for Sport Relief. “The money raised from each Sport Relief coin pack purchased could feed 4 children, living on the streets in India, for one day. Every single person who participates will change lives for the better.”
