Sunsail Powers Exciting New Changes to the 2014 Sperry Top-Sider NOOD Regatta Championships
Middletown, RI (PRWEB) March 19, 2014 -- Long time Sperry Top-Sider NOOD Regatta sponsor Sunsail has announced that they are increasing their commitment to North America’s top regatta series. Sunsail will upgrade the charter offered as the top prize for each winner of a 2014 NOOD with 2 extra days on board a fleet of Jeanneau 44i’s, and will support an expansion of the Caribbean championship by offering special NOOD charter packages to anyone who wants to come and join the fun.
Sunsail was instrumental in the creation of the Caribbean NOOD Championship event in 2007 when they offered free bareboat charters aboard matching Sunsail 39i’s as prizes to the overall winners of each NOOD. For the past eight years, the six individual regatta winners have been competing to be named the Sailing World NOOD Regatta Overall Champion in an invitation-only event in the BVI’s each November.
For the first time in 2014, sailors everywhere are invited to participate in this culmination of the NOOD’s annual series. Sailing World is adding an open class to the Caribbean NOOD Championship and Sunsail is offering special NOOD values on their fleet of top quality bareboats in Tortola for all who wish to come and race NOOD in the BVI.
The dates of the 2014 Caribbean NOOD Championships will be October 25 to October 31st.
NOOD Director George Brengle states that “Sailing World is extremely pleased to continue our awesome partnership with Sunsail enabling us to offer an expanded version of the Overall Award for each NOOD Regatta. Thanks to Sunsail the closing event of the NOOD season will be bigger and better than ever, and opening the event to all NOOD sailors guarantees more fun for everyone.”
Another exciting twist this year is that the NOOD Championship fleet will be visiting the Bitter End Yacht Club while the world famous BEYC Pro Am Regatta is going on. NOOD sailors will be able to rub elbows with all of the America’s Cup sailors, Olympians, and sailing legends competing in the 28th edition of this storied event.
“The NOOD Caribbean Championship has always been a hugely coveted event for participants throughout the year of NOOD Regatta racing. It didn’t take long when planning for this year for us to decide that as Sunsail turns 40, it is an ideal time to marry the strengths of the NOOD Championship with the prestige and excitement of the Bitter End Pro-Am. While we were at it, it just seemed like the perfect time to expand the fleet and the fun by including anyone who wants to extend their regatta season by racing NOOD with us in the BVI.” said Brittany Weatherby, Sunsail’s North American Marketing Manager
“We at Bitter End Yacht Club are very excited that Sailing World’s NOOD Caribbean Championships will be taking place concurrently with the 28th Annual Pro Am Regatta. Bringing the two events together in North Sound doubles the excitement, and triples the fun,” said John Glynn, VP of Sales & Marketing for Bitter End Yacht Club. He added “it’s a natural...we work closely with our friends at Sunsail throughout the year providing great BVI sailing experiences, why not on world class BVI racing events?”
