Christians for Biblical Equality (CBE) has announced that John Stackhouse and Ken Fong will be delivering general sessions at the upcoming 2015 CBE conference in Los Angeles, California.

John G. Stackhouse is professor of theology and culture at Regent College and has authored seven books, including ‘Finally Feminist: A Pragmatic Christian Understanding of Gender’. Ken Fong is senior pastor of Evergreen Baptist Church in Los Angeles and the director of Fuller Seminary’s Asian American Initiative.

“We are excited to have respected teachers and preachers such as John Stackhouse and Ken Fong speak at our conference,” said Florkime Paye, CBE’s conference coordinator. “The ultimate goal of CBE’s conferences is to educate, inspire, and connect all men and women around the idea that men and women are called and gifted equally in all areas of life. We are working hard to create a lineup of speakers who can address all aspects of this goal.”

CBE’s conference, “Becoming New: Man and Woman Together in Christ,” will be held July 24-26 at the Hilton Los Angeles Airport Hotel.

“Becoming New” will be CBE’s first conference in Los Angeles, California. The conference will develop the idea that in Christ men and women embrace a new, mutual identity and vocation not limited by gender. “The conference is based on 2 Corinthians 5:17,” noted Paye. “We are excited to show how a biblical worldview that is focused around Christ calls us out of our hierarchical thinking and into a way of living that promotes the gifting of our neighbor, regardless of their ethnicity, gender, or class.”

CBE has held annual conferences since 1989. CBE’s conferences focus on issues that men and women face as Christians working to live, think, and serve together. CBE works to blend academic, popular, and pastoral speakers in order to provide rich conferences that are accessible to all. When asked about the upcoming speaker lineup for Los Angeles, Paye said, “for Los Angeles, we have already been blessed with Ken Fong and John Stackhouse, and we are working on finalizing the rest of our speaker lineup. We are expecting this to be our most diverse, acclaimed, and exciting speaker lineup to date.”

In its effort to advance a biblical foundation for gift-based rather than gender-based service, CBE sponsors annual conferences, facilitates local chapters, hosts an online book service, and publishes two award-winning journals. For more information, visit http://www.cbeinternational.org
