Manju Anandan says that YumOYum’s goal is to help busy families like hers to enjoy simple homemade meals on a daily basis at an affordable price without the stress of meal planning, shopping, preparation and cleaning.

On the site, users can sign up and browse profiles of cooks in their area. Users can directly contact the cooks or post an AD with their need. Currently the site features about 20 cooks in Portland area who were screened and hand picked. “We have cooks coming from various backgrounds, you can find home-cooks, professional chefs, recent grads from culinary school, all in one place. That's why we are able to offer lower rates compared to personal chef services,” says Manju. YumOYum cooks charge anywhere between $10 to $25 per hr and most of the them can prepare meals in customer's kitchen.There are also cooks who prepare meals in their licensed kitchen and deliver to the door.

While ordering takeout food can be unhealthy and hiring a personal chef can be expensive; YumOYum provides an healthy affordable alternative to find home-cooked food.
