Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) March 21, 2014 -- SpotterRF today announced the demonstration of its wide area surveillance radar at the Arizona State Capitol in conjunction with ADSS, a Tucson, Arizona company. The SpotterRF radar is a vital component of a low-cost system proposed to monitor the state’s southern border regions with Mexico. SB1106, introduced by Arizona Senator Bob Worsley, provides a budget-conscious plan providing 24/7 all-weather surveillance to monitor human foot traffic. Interested citizens can view how the system worked at the Arizona Capitol here.
The plan, code named Picket Fence, calls for placement of hundreds of surveillance stations in the border region over a period of less than a year. The radar’s cloud-based analytics software relays direction of movement and photographs of events along the border to law enforcement (County Sheriff, DPS, Border Patrol) tasked with monitoring drug and gun trafficking. Appropriate steps can then be taken upon observing suspicious behavior.
“This system costs less than building one mile of freeway or one overpass on a freeway and provides advanced security to Arizona citizens we are responsible to protect,” states Senator Worsley. “Each registered citizen will have Internet cloud access to the output from this system for the highest level of transparency possible.”
Close to a thousand SpotterRF compact surveillance radars (CSR) have been deployed across the world. Most recently, SpotterRF installations on Maryland bridges and San Diego dams have addressed homeland security needs. The radar is also used in a variety of other commercial settings like protecting oil-field workers and wildlife in Alaska, animal roadside detection and this estate protection system recently featured on the Discovery Channel (Click here). SpotterRF radar is a 2013 recipient of Government Security News’ Border Security Award. Popular Science named this advanced low-cost radar “Best of What’s New.”
Award-winning SpotterRF created Compact Surveillance Radar to bring the power of wide area surveillance radar to people that need wide area, all weather coverage but could not afford to use traditional Ground Surveillance Radar. This new type of radar has no moving parts that can wear out, weighs less than 4 lbs., uses standard Ethernet cables and has a built in web server. Compact Surveillance Radar automates the difficult work of monitoring large numbers of cameras, empowering security professionals at a much lower price point.
