It is an exciting time for the Joomla Community globally. Brasil is booming with opportunity for growing awareness of just how powerful open source technologies can be in changing the world.
Boston MA (PRWEB) March 24, 2014
JoomlaDay Brazil (http://joomladaybrasil.org/2014/) is a two day event to be held May 2nd and 3rd at the Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo - PUC-SP. The event will feature many keynote presentations, workshops and networking opportunities. JoomlaDay Brazil attracts speakers from around the world and Saturday keynotes will be presented in both English and Portuguese.
Over the past several years Joomla has been rapidly growing with popularity as a preferred technology solution in South America. Schools, businesses and government organizations are realizing initial success and the potential Joomla can have for connecting and building their web based infrastructures. The country of Brazil has an exceptionally active Joomla community with several Joomla Day events drawing upwards of 300 or more attendees in years past. This year’s event in São Paulo is anticipated to surpass previous attendance and attract even more folks.
Joomla! CMS, http://www.Joomla.org, was first introduced in the marketplace in 2005 and has since been rapidly gaining market share globally that is fast approaching nearly 3% of all websites online. The Joomla CMS ranks number one in most of Europe and is consistently in the top three CMS’s in its class around the world. The fact that the overwhelming success of Joomla has been built from a 100% volunteer organization makes it stand out as a unique 21st century business model.
The Mobile ready Joomla 3 CMS platform has introduced more features so far than any other version in its 8-plus year history. In the 3 series, Joomla was the first to introduce the Bootstrap library into their core and the first to offer 2 factor authentication. These among many other innovations such as tagging, advanced access level control and version control have poised Joomla for becoming an even more dominate force in the world of open source. With the anticipated release of Joomla 3.3 there are 5 new features that will improve security, provide useful development tools, and offer improved scalability for enterprise use while significantly increasing Joomla’s SEO marketing capabilities.
The keynote presentation by Christopher Nielsen (USA) and Erico Lopez (Brazil), with CNP Integrations, will explore the reasons why this is an exciting yet critical time in Joomla’s evolution and how the new Joomla Resources Directory Portal (JRD) plays an important role. “Having the chance to speak and participate in JoomlaDay Brazil is a real honor. It is an exciting time for the Joomla Community globally. Brazil is booming with opportunity for growing awareness of just how powerful open source technologies can be in changing the world,” says Christopher Nielsen, Owner and General Manager of the CNP Integrations team. The JRD Redesign:
The redesign for a new JRD grew out of an earlier initiative that fell short of its intended goals. In the redesign process that Mr. Nielsen and co-Chair Chad Windnagle set out to create, they discovered unique GEO navigation tools that fit the new model perfectly. Unfortunately the extension development team was planning to abandon it to pursue other interests. CNP Integrations stepped in to take over the GEO Radius Search Project (http://www.georadiussearch.com) which is the extension used in conjunction with the ZOO cck for Joomla to deliver interactive GEO map navigation on the JRD. CNP taking on the support for the GEO Radius Search extension, allowed the JRD Team to use it with confidence that it would be supported over time. This technology is now the premier navigation system for accessing “Registered Providers” on the new http://resources.joomla.org portal.
Erico Lopez is the lead developer for the GEO Radius Search extension as well as a volunteer on the JRD team. Having unique insight to both has allowed him to develop several custom features that would not have been possible without his or CNP Integrations involvement.
The new JRD went live on March 17th as a soft launch to attract membership and prepare for a public release planned for April 1st. This portal is the kick-off for an ongoing campaign to bring together “Registered Providers” with the many businesses, individuals and organizations around the world that depend on Joomla to deliver their rich web content.
