Tampa, Florida (PRWEB) March 25, 2014
Florida Funders, LLC today announced the launch of http://www.FloridaFunders.com, created to connect promising Florida startups with capital. Accredited investors now have unprecedented opportunity to fund early stage ventures using Florida Funder’s online venture capital model. Florida Funders provides access to deal flow previously unavailable to individual investors, as well as the freedom to choose the level of investment they prefer. For as little as $1,000, Florida accredited investors can be a part of the next hot start up while supporting resident business talent.
Florida Funders is the first company designed exclusively to connect Florida accredited investors and start-ups seeking capital. While the State of Florida has over 500,000 accredited investors, historically only 3% invest in private companies, largely due to barriers such as access to deals and minimum investment amounts. Florida Funders eliminates those barriers. This business model has proven successful for similar ventures in California such as Angel List and Funders Club.
David Chitester, CEO, explained, “Too often promising young companies are forced to leave the state to secure funding, winding up in Silicon Valley or Austin. We created Florida Funders as an essential component of the statewide entrepreneurial ecosystem. Our goal is to keep entrepreneurs in the state for the benefit of the entire Florida business community.”
The process is simple. Using the Florida Funders website, accredited investors access information on highly curated companies seeking investment. There is no cost to investors registering on the site or to companies applying to be listed. When investors express enough interest in meeting a company’s funding requirements, Florida Funders facilitates the investment by creating a single purpose fund specifically for the company seeking the investment. A third party agent then receives the funds and distributes them for investment. The entire process is automated, including information flow, signature collection, and transfer of funds.
About Florida Funders
Dave and Kathleen Chitester, co-founders of Florida Funders and successful Tampa Bay area entrepreneurs, recognized the challenges emerging companies face in funding their growth. Based on their own experience starting companies such as Chitester Management Systems and RedVector.com, as well as feedback from the entrepreneurial community, they created Florida Funders to address the gap between friends and family financing and venture capital. Florida Funders reduces friction in the marketplace by aggregating supply (capital) and demand (need for funding) in one central location.
