Roanoke, Virginia (PRWEB) March 20, 2014
Footmaxx, a leading provider of custom-made orthotics, is a proud corporate sponsor of the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) Roanoke 2014 Muscle Walk, which will take place on April 6th at the Salem Civic Center. The event raises funds to help the MDA support research and to also provide services to those afflicted with neuromuscular diseases. The Roanoke 2014 Muscle Walk has a fund-raising goal of $75,000.
MDA Roanoke Board member and Footmaxx Vice President Tim Nye stressed the importance of being involved with the event, “Footmaxx is proud to be a premier sponsor of the MDA Muscle Walk in Roanoke. It is vital to support local events and causes and there is no more important effort than taking care of the young people in our community.”
An estimated 1 million Americans are currently battling life-threatening muscle disease and the MDA Muscle Walk is a small, but important vehicle in fighting those diseases. By raising funds through the Muscle Walk, the MDA is able to offer financial support to over 200 clinics nation-wide, help send children to summer camps to build independence and self-confidence, provide medical equipment assistance, and contribute to support groups and educational resources.
The world’s largest non-profit organization committed to finding treatments and cures for neuromuscular diseases, the Muscular Dystrophy Association fights through advocacy, fundraising, and local engagement; it achieves its goals with research, health care services, and support to patients and families alike.
