Tofu-maker House Foods America Corporation Signs 18-month Natural Gas Contract With GREENCROWN Energy
Belleville, New Jersey (PRWEB) March 20, 2014 -- Nationwide energy services company GREENCROWN Energy recently announced that House Foods America Corporation, a leading producer and marketer of tofu products in the U.S., has renewed its natural gas contract for an additional 18 months.
“For our business, it’s all about providing the highest quality of products and customer service to our clients, and Green Crown Energy obviously shares that approach to doing business,” said Alfred Young, accountant at House Foods. “We couldn’t be more pleased with their service and rates.”
House Foods relies on natural gas extensively during its tofu-making process, according to Young. “It’s vital that we be able to accurately forecast our energy usage in producing our many products, while keeping those costs as low as possible," he noted. "We rely on GreenCrown Energy’s vast expertise, energy industry relationships and negotiating skills to help us keep natural gas prices on the lowest end of the spectrum.”
House Foods America has tofu plants in California and New Jersey with a combined capacity of manufacturing 350,000 pieces of tofu a day. “That requires a great deal of natural gas,” Young pointed out. “We use over 600,000 therms annually, and GREENCROWN Energy has saved us on average 12 percent over the prevailing utility rate, which is important to our bottom line.”
Using only 100 percent U.S. soybeans for its products — which include Sweet Teriyaki, premium and organic tofu — House Foods America is part of a surging soy food industry that has increased from $1 billion to $5.2 billion in annual sales over the last 15 years. “More Americans have discovered not only the versatility and wonderful taste of tofu, but its significant health benefits as well,” Young added. “Not only is tofu cholesterol free, rich in minerals and easy to prepare, but the FDA approved a health claim linking soy with heart disease reduction.”
Being associated with a company like House Foods America for the last four years has been an honor, says Paul Errigo, director of business development at GreenCrown Energy — a leading full-service energy consulting company specializing in energy supply, cost reduction and turnkey cogeneration systems development. “Their unswerving dedication to the highest level of quality products and customer service is something that all companies should try to emulate. We’re proud that they continue to turn to us for their growing natural gas needs,” he said.
