Chicago’s Young Professionals Gather to Celebrate Healthy Living and Support Promising Cancer Research
SCHAUMBURG, Ill. (PRWEB) March 20, 2014 -- While cancer can be devastating for those it affects, working to find cures can be a source of joy and reward. It’s with this sense of optimism that Chicago-area young professionals will gather the evening of Saturday, April 5, at Gateway to Wellness, a first-of-its-kind event to support the pursuit of cancer treatments and cures. Ticket sales and donations will support Gateway for Cancer Research, a nonprofit organization that funds clinical trials to help cancer patients feel better, live longer and be cured today.
More than half of all cancer deaths could be prevented by making healthy choices, like eating right and staying active, according to the American Cancer Society. That’s why Gateway to Wellness, the inaugural event hosted by the Gateway for Cancer Research Associates Board, will introduce guests to local food, products and interactive activities that promote a healthy, balanced lifestyle. Held at Catalyst Ranch, one of Chicago’s most distinctive venues and an event sponsor, Gateway to Wellness will give busy young professionals new ideas for working healthy habits into their day-to-day lives.
“Cancer affects far too many of our friends and loved ones; the good news is we have an opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives right now,” said Teresa Hall Bartels, President, Gateway for Cancer Research. “Gateway to Wellness is the first of many events produced by the Associates Board designed to involve more young people in our mission to help cancer patients live richer, longer lives by advancing research.”
In addition to mixing and mingling, Gateway to Wellness will feature experts from local companies and organizations who will share tips, products and in-person instruction to educate guests about healthy lifestyle choices in fun and interactive ways. Experts will range from providers of massage and acupuncture therapy to pole dance workout trainers and functional nutritionists.
Tickets to Gateway to Wellness can be purchased for $60 at: http://www.DemandCuresToday.org/GatewayWellnessEvent. Tickets include passed hors d’oeuvres, open bar (courtesy of Uinta Brewing Co. and Omission Beers from Lakeshore Beverage, Great Lakes Brewing, and others) giveaways, raffle and silent auction. (Auction items range from an eight-week class at the Old Town School of Folk Music to a one-week condo stay in Frisco, Colo.) As with all Associates Board events, 99 cents of every dollar received directly funds cancer clinical trials at the Gateway for Cancer Research.
In addition to Catalyst Ranch serving as the Presenting Sponsor of Gateway to Wellness, confirmed sponsors include energy company Exelon and corporate video production firm Eclipse Imagery.
Gateway to Wellness benefits the Gateway for Cancer Research, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that pursues cures for cancer by funding promising research. Its goal is to help cancer patients feel better and live longer by finding better treatments and cures. Ninety-nine cents of every dollar Gateway receives funds cancer research at leading research institutions across the world.
Gateway to Wellness will take place on April 5, 2014, from 6 to 9 p.m. Catalyst Ranch is located in the Haymarket Building at 656 W. Randolph St., #3W, in Chicago, two blocks west and one block south of the Clinton Green Line station, directly east of the Kennedy Expressway.
