Bird Rock Coffee Roasters Now Serving New Farm-to-Cup Coffee From Boliva
La Jolla, CA (PRWEB) March 20, 2014 -- Specialty coffee company, Bird Rock Coffee Roasters, is now serving an exotic micro-lot sourced directly from farmers in Bolivia. Bird Rock Coffee Roasters has been sourcing coffee from farmers in Bolivia for more than four years, and as a roaster who specializes in direct trade, the shop’s coffee experts are declaring this current batch the best they’ve ever sourced from the region.
The Bolivian coffee comes from a farmer new to the Bird Rock family, Julian Nina, whose farm is located in South Yungas. Julian, a coffee farming veteran, primarily grows the Typica variety and dries the washed coffee on Kenyan beds which results in a balanced, nuanced cup that is creamy and sweet with tangerine, sage and a hint of vanilla.
“When we traveled to Bolivia last fall, we cupped about 150 sample over two days looking for a new farmer to work with. This coffee was a standout on the cupping table,” said Chuck Patton, owner of Bird Rock Coffee Roasters. “Julian, the farmer, does everything right-- from the harvesting to the processing.”
Another seasonal coffee currently being served at Bird Rock Coffee Roasters is their Ethiopian offering, which is from the village of Shakiso, and is part of a special project to create specific and unique regional micro-lots that are both consistent and transparent. This other exotic coffee blooms with fresh guava and black raspberry, with luscious tropical fruit balanced with spice and a subtle hint of nectarine.
These seasonal coffees are available for a limited time, and can be purchased by the cup, or by the bag. The Bolivian coffee is $16.99 for 12-ounces, and the Ethiopian is $17.99. For more information, and to purchase the coffee, please visit birdrockcoffee.com.
