(PRWEB UK) 21 March 2014

As reported in the article, ‘Youngsters caught on CCTV smashing up Barrowash allotments and causing ‘hell’’, published in the Derby Telegraph on March 19th 2014, the alleged vandals that have reportedly been hitting the Elm Street allotments in Barrowash every month have been caught on CCTV cameras during the latest incident on Sunday 16th March, in which greenhouse windows were smashed and a knife was taken. After a spate of recent attacks, many allotment owners have reportedly quit because of the anti-social behaviour.

Freddy May, a teacher who runs an allotment at the site, said: “I’m very surprised to see them on camera, but also very happy. Vandalism is a big problem here and it leaves me upset that my property has been invaded and damaged. I’ve not had anything stolen but have suffered damaged sheds and broken locks.”

Business security specialists, AlertSystems, have responded to the use of CCTV cameras in this situation, and have commended the use of images to bring to light the alleged cause of the recent incidents of vandalism at the allotments. A spokesperson for the company said:

“In light of the recent spate of unfortunate incidents in Barrowash’s Elm Street allotments, it’s great that the use of CCTV security system technology has proven vital to the situations’ resolution. Catching the culprits on cameras is something that couldn’t have been achieved without security systems such as this, and the footage taken from cameras can now be used to identify the alleged vandals and resolve the issue once and for all. With this, the minds of the public and allotment owners are also put at ease, encouraging people to stay until the issue is solved.”
