Two-time Super Bowl champion to coach at American Football Development Limited’s inaugural camps in Kent
Kent, UK (PRWEB UK) 22 March 2014 -- Chamberlain began his professional career as a member of German gridiron team the Rhein Fire, who competed in the World League, predecessor of NFL Europe. After leading the World League in every statistical receiving category in 1996, he was called up to the team who drafted him, the Denver Broncos, where together with Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe he made up John Elway’s tight end unit for the team’s successful Super Bowl runs in 1997 and 1998. As an individual, Chamberlain’s best season came in 2001, his first year with the Minnesota Vikings. His play was so impressive that he was elected to the NFL’s All-Star game that year, the Pro Bowl.
Explaining his decision to join the coaching staff for AFD’s camps in April, Byron explained: “I got a chance to experience football in London during my time in NFL Europe. The life I created is due to the playing football and the lesson I learned in the game. My goal in England is to help teach fundamentals and passion for the game. I love the game of football and want to spread my love for it to others around the globe.”
Chamberlain joins former NFL tight end and fullback Ronnie Ghent, linebacker and cornerback Derrick McBride, and offensive lineman Orrin Thompson on the coaching staff for AFD’s camps, which will be held at the Aylesham Welfare Leisure Centre in eastern Kent. The staff will oversee a senior camp on the 5th and 6th of April, open to men and women alike over the age of 18, and a youth camp on the 10th and 11th of April for ages 14-18.
