Lincoln, NE (PRWEB) March 22, 2014 -- The Bethany community Heroes Run registration is now open. Participants can register for the 5k race at http://www.bethanyheroesrun.com. The race is scheduled for Saturday, April 5th at 10:00 am at the Cotner Center, 1540 N. Cotner in Lincoln.
One of the main objectives of the run is to promote a healthy community, but also the heroes around the Bethany and Lincoln area. Participants are encouraged to dress up as their favorite caped crusader or as a local community hero, such as police officers, teachers, firefighters and so forth.
“When we think of the event, we wanted to join together people. We want an annual celebration of neighbors, friendships and overall promotion of a wonderful cause together. More than anything this event is about supporting one another and remembering that service, courage, and honor all come back to the promotion of character,” said Lacey Perrett, event organizer and a Bethany community doctor at Green Chiropractic.
All registrations for the run must be received by Tuesday, April 1st by 5 pm in order to secure a T-shirt. You can register in person until Friday, April 4th from 1-4 pm at Green Chiropractic located at 1161 N. Cotner in Lincoln. The cost for registration is $25. Registration includes a T-shirt and $5 donation to the Patriotic Productions Foundation. Additionally, participation waivers will be required for all participants.
During the run, donations will be collected for the Patriotic Productions Foundation. This local organization works to preserve the honor and courage of those that have served in our military. Patriotic Productions is also known for their Veteran Honor Flights. To learn more about the organization and their work, please visit http://www.atrioticproductions.org.
Race check in and packet pick up begins at 9 am on race day, with the opening ceremony beginning at 9:45 am. The race will take place, rain or shine and those who wish to walk are also welcome to participate. Children under 5 years old can participate for free, but will need to register.
The event mission is to represent, support, and promote our members by educating, communicating and fostering opportunities for the economic prosperity of business; fostering member relationships by providing networking opportunities; and advocating for the betterment of our community. Showing support for our heroes and honoring the ideal of courage together.
