Wintergreen celebrates, promotes and recognizes excellence in high performance, healthy design and building, environmental stewardship and community impact. LEED is an acronym for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design and is the nation’s preeminent program for the design, construction, and operation of high-performance green buildings. LEED certification provides independent, third-party verification that a building, home or community was designed and built using strategies aimed at achieving high performance in key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality.
