Mashable Announces Ashley Codianni as Its Director of News Video
New York, NY (PRWEB) March 20, 2014 -- Mashable, the leading media company for the Connected Generation and the voice of digital culture, announced today that it has hired Ashley Codianni as its Director of News Video.
In this role, Codianni will help Mashable develop a unique video language for capturing and explaining the news stories that resonate with its audience, and deliver them in ways that are highly sharable and engaging.
“In this era of multimedia journalism, we are able to tell stories through all shapes, sizes and characters - video is a critical part of this revolution,” said Jim Roberts, Chief Content Officer and Executive Editor of Mashable. “With Ashley's experience and her ability to create sharable stories in short- and long-form video, she will be a huge asset, moving us deeper into the medium.”
Codianni joins Mashable from NowThis News, where she most recently led the Washington, D.C. bureau and oversaw the company’s original and sharable political content. She produced a number of videos that appeared on MSNBC, CNN, Washington Post, New York Magazine and Huffington Post. She was instrumental in developing social mobile video for the site’s political coverage, including Instagram-exclusive interviews with politicians like New Jersey Senator Cory Booker, and Vine-exclusive segments of the government shutdown.
Prior to NowThis News, she was a producer for MSNBC's "Morning Joe" and NBC host Willie Geist, covering everything from breaking news to pop culture. Before that, she was a producer for the TODAY Show Weekend Edition and a political researcher at NBC News. She also covered the 2008 election for NBC News, reporting on msnbc.com's politics blog, First Read.
Codianni is a graduate of College of the Holy Cross, where she studied political science.
Codianni joins Mashable on April 15. She can be found on Twitter at @AshleyCodianni.
