Southern New Hampshire University Receives Distinction from Society for Human Resource Management
(PRWEB) March 20, 2014 -- Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU), a private, non-profit New England-based institution backed by a long history of high-quality continuing education, has received recognition from the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) for its online Master of Science in Human Resource Management degree program and online Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a Human Resource Management Concentration.
This new distinction acknowledges the program’s full alignment with SHRM’s competency standards for education in Human Resources, including the HR Curriculum Guidebook and Templates —SHRM’s academic initiative to define standards for graduate degree programs.
SHRM has been a partner of SNHU for over 10 years offering the Human Resource Certification Preparatory course on campus and in an accelerated online format.
The Society for Human Resource Management, founded in 1948, is the world’s largest HR membership organization devoted to human resource management. Representing more than 275,000 members in over 160 countries, the Society is the leading provider of resources to serve the needs of HR professionals and advance the professional practice of human resource management.
“This distinction reflects SNHU’s commitment to offering high-quality continuing education programs,” said Dr. Gregory Fowler, chief academic officer for SNHU’s College of Online and Continuing Education. “Our undergraduate and graduate programs in Human Resource Management address the critical competencies identified by SHRM, which in turn reflect the outcomes that are expected in the profession. This means that our HR graduates will be well-prepared as they enter the workforce.”
Throughout the world, only 344 programs at 258 educational institutions meet SHRM’s strict competency standards. The HR Curriculum Guidebook and Templates were developed by SHRM to define the minimum HR content areas that should be studied by HR students at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The guidelines – created in 2006 and revalidated in 2010 and 2013 – are part of SHRM’s Academic Initiative to define HR education standards taught in university business schools and help universities develop degree programs that follow these standards.
