Retired NFL Players Health Screening To Be Held In Washington DC Hosted By Living Heart Foundation and Pro Player Health Alliance
Washington D.C. (PRWEB) March 21, 2014 -- May 12th, 2014 marks the next health screening for former NFL players hosted by Living Heart Foundation (LHF) and Pro Player Health Alliance (PPHA). Dr. Elliott Alpher, Sleep Director of the American Sleep and Breathing Academy (ASBA) Dental Division, is said to be a key speaker at the event. David Gergen, ASBA Dental Division Executive Director states, "The combined effort of these organizations working together within the medical and wellness community is key to addressing the needs of sleep disordered breathing."
Following a successful presentation from ASBA Dental Division Sleep Director, Dr. Elliott Alpher and David Gergen, ASBA Dental Division Executive Director, to the Department of Transportation, President Obama signed into law H.R. 3095, Gergen stated, “Sleep disordered breathing is a global concern.”
The previous health screening held at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, AZ February 22, 2014 was considered a huge success, gathering over 53 NFL greats as well as ABC15, FOX10 and AZFamily news, covering the screening locally. LHF’s NFL overall health screening includes blood pressure, lung age, body composition, ECG, cardiovascular risk detecting blood tests and obstructive sleep apnea screenings. The Apnea Risk Evaluation System by Watermark (ARES home sleep test unit) will be the sleep apnea screening unit used when medically indicated.
