1337 Ale by Victory Brewing Company

Thankfully, 1337 Ale has more maturity and complexity than Ron and I did as 16-year olds,” laughs President and Brewmaster, Covaleski.

Victory Brewing Company® (Victory) is pleased to announce 1337TM Ale, a special release brew, is now available along the East Coast. The 1337 Ale is a salute to the legislation that legalized homebrewing with a throwback recipe from co-founders Bill Covaleski and Ron Barchet’s early days as homebrewers.

Now, with Victory’s second full-time production brewery in Parkesburg, Pa. operational and construction beginning on a second brewpub in Kennett Square, Pa., this limited and commemorative ale, packaged in 22 oz. bottles and kegs, also celebrates the brewery’s future.

1337 Ale is available for purchase in many bottle shops, beer distributors and major gourmet grocery stores, including most Whole Foods Markets and Wegmans locations, as well as at many craft beer bars up and down the East Coast. The suggested retail price for a 22 oz. bottle is approximately $4.99, depending on location. Use Victory’s Beerfinder to discover a nearby location, or download the free Victory Mobile app for Android or iPhone.

Signed into law in 1979, H.R. 1337 made homebrewed beer for personal or family use exempt from taxation and ignited a movement that led to the birth of a now thriving craft beer industry. At that time, Bill and Ron were more focused on street hockey and Star Wars than hops. However, six years later, armed with a homebrew kit, the pair developed a passion for the hobby that would lead them to abandon their corporate jobs to pursue the craft and eventually start Victory Brewing Company.

Reminiscent of a classic recipe favored by Bill and Ron in their early days as homebrewers, 1337 Ale features a pleasant aroma of mild caramel malts and earthy hop qualities, and is just what you might expect from Victory’s home- to brewmasters now more than18 years later.
“Thankfully, 1337 Ale has more maturity and complexity than Ron and I did as 16-year olds,” laughs President and Brewmaster, Covaleski. “This was a nice walk down Memory Lane, while at the same time, celebrating the next phase of our journey. Hopefully our fans have enjoyed the ride as much as we have.”
