When Romeo Santos was the lead singer of the Bachata group Aventura, they were one of the greatest touring acts in the world. The group released hit single after hit single and their album sales grew with each release. Aventura decided after their 2009 album, The Last, that they would be taking a break from performing together and would be going their separate ways. In the case of Santos, he couldn’t have asked for a better start to a solo career than the one he has. He recently released his second album and to lend support to the new release, will be embarking on the “Formula, Vol. 2 Tour” this spring and summer.
Santos’ tour will begin with a show at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Calif. on May 22 and is currently set to run through July 12 with a show at Yankee Stadium in his hometown of The Bronx, N.Y. Santos’ popularity has grown immensely since hitting the road as a solo artist and has been aided through both albums with some of the biggest names in music. His debut album as a solo superstar was called Formula, Vol. 1 and with the help of Usher, Tomatito, Mario Domm and Lil Wayne, had the album certified platinum three times by the Recording Industry Association of America. His single with Usher, “You,” was one of the top songs of the year and allowed Santos’ music to reach a new audience.
When Santos’ second album, Formula, Vol. 2 was released in February, he had already enlisted the services of music royalty, Carlos Santana, as well as Nicki Minaj, Marc Anthony, Drake and Tego Calderón to help with some singles. His smooth mix of Bachata and R&B is seen done well with his single, “Odio,” a track he completed with Drake. The album opened on the Billboard 200 album charts at the No. 5 position after selling more than 85,000 copies.
Among the different venues Santos will be taking his music to on the first leg of this North American tour include the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California; Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada; Amway Center in Orlando, Florida.; AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas; Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinoid; and the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. These shows all have large capacity facilities that will need every seat available due to his intense popularity.
