New York, NY (PRWEB) March 21, 2014 -- Ticket Down announces that The Goo Goo Dolls and Daughtry will be touring together in 2014. Over the course of their career together, the Goo Goo Dolls have turned into one of the most popular groups in rock music. The group first formed in 1986 in Buffalo, New York with John Rzeznik, Robby Takac and George Tutuska and still has a large following close to 30 years later. The group still tours regularly and starting on June 12th at the Toyota Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford, Connecticut, will be touring with Daughtry. The tour will run through a show at the Champlain Valley Exposition in Essex Junction, Vermont.
Daughtry is the group that was formed by a popular former contestant on American Idol, Chris Daughtry. The group originally formed in 2006 and they released their self-titled debut album the same year. The album has sold more than four million copies in the United States and reached the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart. It was one of the greatest albums in the history of Soundscan as it was the fastest selling rock debut album ever. The album was also the best selling album of 2007, according to Billboard. Their follow up album, Leave This Town, has also reached the No. 1 spot on the Billboard charts and has more than a million sales in the U.S.
Collectively, their catalog of music has netted them more than 7.4 million album sales. In the digital sales world, they have more than 22.6 million digital tracks sold in the U.S., as well as 20.6 million albums and 53.8 million downloads around the world. Among the singles that have made up for a lot of these record sales include “It’s Not Over,” “Home,” “Over You,” “Feels Like Tonight,” “Life After You,” and “No Surprise.”
In the case of the Goo Goo Dolls, they are most known for their 1998 single, “Iris.” The song was originally released on the City of Angels soundtrack and later appeared on their album, Dizzy Up the Girl. The single holds much significance to the overall music business including being one of the greatest crossover tracks from modern rock, pop and adult contemporary radio. The song was the most played on radio in 1998 and was called the No. 1 song on the Billboard “Top 100 Pop Songs 1992-2012” chart.
While “Iris” is their most known song, the group also have other popular singles including “Name,” “Slide,” “Dizzy,” “Black Balloon,” “Give a Little Bit,” “Naked,” “Better Days,” and “Here is Gone.” The group has also seen some success with their albums including their three-time platinum record, Dizzy Up the Girl, and two-time platinum album, A Boy Named Goo.
When the Goo Goo Dolls, Daughtry and their opening act, Plain White T’s, hit the road this summer, they will be hitting most of the elite amphitheaters in North America including the Timberwood Amphitheater in Hot Springs, Arkansas; Walnut Creek Amphitheatre in Raleigh, North Carolina; Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado and the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, New Jersey.
