Kids Wish Network Provides Over $400,000 Worth of Needed Items for Kids and Families in the Mississippi Delta
Holiday, FL (PRWEB) March 21, 2014 -- Children’s charity Kids Wish Network, in partnership with the Mississippi Conference of Black Mayors (MCBM), provided over $440,000 worth of comforting products to kids and families in Yazoo City, MS, and surrounding areas. The donation was part of the Kids Wish Network’s On Tour Event program that works to provide joy for children facing life-altering situations.
The 22 pallets were filled with board games, puzzles, stuffed animals, educational items, new clothes and hygiene products. This event was hosted in connection with the MCBM’s initiative to educate families in the Mississippi Delta about the importance of health, nutrition, education, and available resources.
“We’re so thankful that Kids Wish Network was able to provide for this event,” says MCBM President Yazoo City Mayor McArthur Straughter. “This is going to have a great impact on the kids because a lot of people in the community don’t have access to new things.”
“The communities that we serve are communities of poverty and great lack, and we couldn’t provide for them like this without the support of Kids Wish Network,” adds Silbrina Wright, executive director of the MCBM.
Through the On Tour Event and Holiday of Hope Gift Bank programs, Kids Wish Network is able to reach hundreds of thousands of children across the country each year. These kids are facing upsetting and often traumatic circumstances such as illness, abuse, neglect and homelessness. With the help of generous donors, the charity provides comfort and joy to kids and areas that need it most.
